Websites and e-commerce

A booking experience as calm as the hotel itself

Casa Mira is a 24-room boutique hotel in Lisbon. We designed a website that turns browsing into direct bookings and cut the hotel's reliance on booking platforms.

The challenge

Almost 80 percent of Casa Mira's reservations came through online travel agencies, each taking a commission of up to 18 percent. The hotel's own site was slow, awkward on a phone and sent guests off to a clunky third-party booking page. The owners wanted a site that sold the feeling of staying there, and a booking flow guests would prefer to the big platforms.

Our approach

We art-directed a new shoot around light and texture rather than room inventory, and structured the site around three moments: the neighborhood, the rooms and the table. Every page leads to a booking panel that remembers a guest's dates as they browse. The booking engine now lives inside the site, direct bookings come with a best-rate guarantee, and every page loads in under a second on a mobile connection.

The outcome

Direct bookings tripled within a year, so the hotel now keeps far more of every reservation. Guests regularly mention the website in their reviews, something the owners say had never happened before.

Our website used to be a brochure. Now it is our best salesperson, and it works every night while we sleep.
